Jump Already

You know to begin with Jesus, you have your priorities straightened out, now what? Jump right in. That’s right! Your to-do list isn’t going to complete itself Betty! Watch that smirk Jane, I know you went and got your hair done instead of making chili for the cookoff yesterday… Seriously though, you have your list, you know where to begin, now take charge!

Onward and upward friends! We can do this!

Here, I’ll even help you: jump right in with today’s devotion- you won’t even think about using any excuses after you read this!

Read: Exodus 3

Consider: When my husband and I first believed that we were being called into full time Christian service, I think we both felt inadequate. After all, my husband was in his last semester of college studying mortuary science and I was quite content being wife, mom, and volunteering in our community. I remember talking with my mom about feeling ill-equipped for the ministry, I mean, I didn’t know how to just jump right in. I certainly didn’t feel confident to take that leap. As a momma tends to do, she shared her experience and wisdom with me. She said, “Jerri-Lynne, if the Lord has called you into the ministry, you must trust that He will give you the tools you need to serve Him. But, you must step out on faith, jump in, and trust that if Jesus can walk on the water, you can rest in knowing that He will give you the tools you need to serve Him.” All these years later, her words still ring true. God has been so faithful. Philippians 4:19, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Every need – physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally – God has supplied and will continue to supply. So jump already!

Still not convinced? Leap into Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Trusting in God’s plan for your life often means stepping out of your comfort zone in faith, knowing God will never fail you. The road will be difficult and challenging and even painful at times, but the blessings will far out-weigh any of the negatives. I promise. Lamentations 3:22-24 reminds us, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul, therefore I will hope in him.”
